What happened to laundry chutes over the years? There are plenty of stories, we’re not sure how many are true. However, there are strict building codes to follow when it comes to having a laundry chute, so some of the stories have made their way into safety laws.

Today, laundry chutes need to be built up to a specific height, have fire coded walls and cannot be more than a certain width. So, unless you are an adult, the new and improved laundry chutes are no longer, “fun.”
